Research shows that company culture is a huge part of what keeps a business successful over the long term. Culture shapes how people behave, make decisions, and work together at every level. It affects productivity, and it determines how long people choose to stay. A study by Deloitte found that companies with a strong, clear, well-communicated culture consistently outperform the competition, sometimes by up to four times.

Psychologists Edgar Schein and Geert Hofstede have shown that culture isn’t only words. It is created and reinforced by what leaders do, by what people believe, and by habits that grow every day. It is less about what companies say they stand for and more about what they genuinely live by. When people’s values and their company’s actions match, they feel engaged, they feel trusted, and they are energised. When there is a disconnect, disengagement, mistakes, and a higher turnover rate prevail.

And culture matters most when companies face change. A 2022 study by McKinsey found that businesses with adaptable and open cultures, those that encourage honesty, creativity, and psychological safety, grow much faster, and they navigate disruption much better. Great tools in today’s workplace.
